A 6-week program that meets once a week for 2 hours with a different focus each week. The purpose is to educate citizens on the workings of city government, increase awareness of the systems that exist, how to interact with those systems, and be agents of change in their communities.

Weekly Topics
  1. Government 101: Basics of city government. How it is made up, overview of the departments, meet the board of directors and how they operate, etc. A crash course in how the city runs from city hall.

  2. Dollars and Sense: The city's budget and where the money comes from and how it gets spent. What parts of the city don't actually fall under the jurisdiction or budget of the city?

  3. Safety in the City: 911 dispatch, MEMS, LRPD, LRFD, ADEM all describe their roles in the maintenance of safety in the city

  4. Building Blocks:

  5. Living in Little Rock: The Zoo, community centers, Parks and Rec department, Sustainability, the departments and programs that keep Little Rock beautiful and enriching for the citizens

  6. Community Care: Summer Youth Employment, Re-Entry programs, how does the city fund programs and initiatives that serve the people and help them succeed?
