One of my OG heroes from the Arkansas legislature. Democratic former state senator, she was an educator for her entire career before entering politics. She has been a staunch advocate for education opportunities for Arkansas children and civil rights especially voting rights. She started the organization Get Loud Arkansas, a non partisan voters rights advocacy group.

She suffered a stroke in 2023 (I think) which has led to her being in poor health since. Recently she has been making great strides in her health journey and was even able to attend the GLA volunteer appreciation event this year, exciting many.
